Coach T returns to the Rockets

In a very welcome piece of news for the basketball coaching fraternity, it’s with great pleasure that we can announce the return of Coach Dave Titmuss to the Rockets in a role that will help the Club continue to show its passion for developing high performing Coaches.

After his incredibly successful time at the Rockets in previous years coupled with his experiences as a Head Coach in high performance and world-class environments – as well as his work as a Coach tutor – Coach T will step into a newly formed role working alongside Matt Johnson as the High-Performance Coach Mentor.

Matt was thrilled when asked about the Club’s latest development:

“This is such an important moment for me personally and for the Club as a whole and basketball in general. Coaches like Coach T are once in a generation of people and their voices, knowledge and experience should be given the platform they deserve.

“We feel that this mentoring role fits hand in glove with the Club’s priorities and overall direction. It’s timely too for Coach T who is thirsty to be back where he belongs and is ready now to assist in supporting, challenging and guiding the next generation of Coaches at the Rockets.

“To start with Coach T will be working with Dan Pearson and Luque Portero as he begins to help us reshape the Rockets Programme again.

“As a previous player, captain, assistant and associate Coach with Coach T my experiences are cherished and memorable and my wish is that we can now create an environment that is rich in challenge and equal in support for Coaches that want to tread a similar path that Coach set for us all many years ago. “

Coach T said: “I’m delighted to be back. This Club has always been a terrific environment for both player and Coach development so I’m excited to be playing a part in helping to expand this important mission.

“I’ve been fascinated and passionate for many years about Programme and culture building and in the pursuit of coaching excellence so I’m really looking forward to the challenges ahead.

I think that recognising the true value of Coaches and coaching comes from the top of any basketball organisation and that’s certainly the case at Rockets under Matt and Chairman, Gary Johnson, it’s something of an understatement to say that I’m deeply aligned with the Club’s ethos!”
