In July, Reading Rockets wheelchair basketball head coach Grant Barker ran a performance camp for 2 days for young talented athletes from across the country who are on the England Pathway and GB Academy.
The purpose of the camp was for males and female athletes to have an opportunity to train together in a competitive environment and work on all aspects of the game such as the fundamentals, defence and offence.
It was our first camp of this kind and it was a real success with all the athletes really enjoying the 2 days. I hope in future to be able to offer similar opportunities and work with other coaches to bring in as much expertise as I can to give the athletes the best opportunity to learn and grow.
Liam Barker who attended the camp and plays for Rockets had a great experience.
” It was a great opportunity to see friends from across England and be able to play competitively and match up with others of similar ability and drive”
These camps are a great way to give top level players extra training in the off season and it was great to see many of our Rockets players there training hard.
Great work by Coach Barker and we are excited to see more of these in the future.
