Reading Rockets announce partnership with Buckinghamshire New University

The Rockets are pleased to announce a brand  new Higher education partnership with Buckinghamshire New University.

BNU has a high pedigree of sports performance and this new partnership will help bring Basketball into focus at the university.

The programme will be playing in National Division 3 Men in year one and play in the BUCS University leagues. This will give students more opportunities to train with full time coaching, extra morning skills development sessions, University team training and regular quality games.

The new programme will also allow BNU to link into the Rockets infrastructure across the academy and community basketball programmes.

The Rockets are thrilled to be working with Dr Fiona McCormack, Dr Ciaran O’Keefe and Dr Mark Homer and their incredible, well experienced, team.

This is a well-loved programme that has recently been the home of several special people within the Rockets family and continues to provide a wonderful opportunity for so many students.

On the new partnership, Matt Johnson said: “I have personally enjoyed working with the University on this project and have been incredibly impressed with the direction of travel that the staff are focussed on moving in.

This partnership gives many of our academy students the opportunity now to stay local and within the Rockets environment if they choose  and also gives us a university environment for students coming from all over England and abroad to be a part of the Rockets family too.”
