The Surrey Scorchers and Reading Rockets Basketball Club are proud to announce
a new partnership aimed at supporting young British basketball talent. This
partnership will provide aspiring basketball players with a unique opportunity to
develop their skills and reach their full potential.
Both Surrey Scorchers and Reading Rockets have a long-standing commitment to
supporting the growth of British basketball, and this new partnership will take their
efforts to a new level. The partnership will offer young athletes access to elite
coaching, facilities, and assistance in helping them to achieve their goals on and off
the court.
Matt Johnson, Director of Basketball for the Rockets, issued the following statement
regarding the partnership: “It is a unique and rare opportunity for two clubs to
collaborate and bridge gaps that could prove beneficial to future players”.
Johnson continued, “We are delighted to establish this partnership, it gives a closer
perspective on the daily operations of a professional franchise. Our goal is to ensure
that this partnership positively impacts young players and we are honoured to work
with such a dedicated group of leaders.”
Dan Clark, General Manager, also commented on the partnership, saying, “We view
this collaboration with Reading as a valuable addition to our growing player pathway.
This kind of partnership is common practice in many countries, but not as
widespread in the UK. We aim to make this a mutually beneficial arrangement for
both clubs and, most importantly, for the players involved.”
