Reading Rockets are pleased to announce the signing of Jawad Adekoya.
Born in Illinois, USA, Adekoya was last seen playing in “The Basketball League” in Canada for both the Dayton Flight and the Kokomo Bobkats. Adekoya impressed for Dayton, with two 20 point games. Over 2022, the American averaged 18.5 points per game on 40% from the field and 38% from three point range.

Standing at six feet and six inches, Adekoya brings rebounding and a strong defensive presence as well as athletic inside scoring as the Rockets look to continue the season turnaround.
Adekoya has basketball experience across the world, including playing on and off in China, in CBA off season scrimmage games.
British basketball fans may remember Adekoya from his three year stint in the British Basketball League. He first came onto the British basketball scene as a part of the 2016-17 Cheshire Phoenix team, where he averaged 10 points, three rebounds and one assist a game in 25 games played.
Adekoya then joined the Plymouth Raiders for the next two years. In his first year, the American once again averaged 10 points, three rebounds and one assist a game, but this time in 12 games played.
In his final year in the BBL, Adekoya averaged three points, two rebounds and one assist in 11 games played.
Before coming to England, Adekoya played collegiate basketball for the Chicago State Cougars in NCAA Division 1. He spent two years there, averaging eight points, three rebounds and one assist in his second year.
On joining the Rockets, Adekoya said: “I’m ecstatic to be joining the Rockets! I’ve been treated like no less than family since my arrival. I’m excited to get started and help the team continue their success!”
