Reading Rockets Charity is thrilled to announce the engagement with Eden Hyundai, Reading, in their S.T.A.R.T programme ( Supporting Talented Athletes in Rockets Teams ).
Rockets has been developing and nurturing young athletes for some 19 years and in 2012 launched its charity, Rockets Sport and Educational Foundation as it recognised the changing circumstances in society.
“Sport is an expensive commodity to be a part of “ said one of the Trustees , Matt Johnson. “Over the past number of years we have not only seen a rise in appetite for young people to emulate their role models, we have also seen a rise in the cost that clubs and associations have necessarily borne for their young members to access quality and sustained opportunities” he added.
“The S.T.A.R.T. programme has been an absolute necessity in the journey of many young athletes recently and without the generous spirit of businesses like Eden Hyundai there would certainly not be as many opportunities for talented young people to continue to access the sport they love. ”
Steve Tomlin, General Manager of Reading Eden Hyundai said “We have recently engaged with Rockets in their community programme and was made aware of this vital cog ( S.T.A.R.T ), which enable athletes who just can’t afford the full training, mentoring and development cost, to play an active part and realise their full potential. We at Eden Hyundai are strong believers in supporting sport and activity programmes in the community and are very pleased to help Rockets charity in this way.”
As the new season approaches, Rockets hopes to encourage other businesses to actively support this great scholarship type programme which begins with a contribution of as little as £250 per annum.
