Rockets Wheelchair Basketball Teams

Overview

The Reading Rockets have two teams in the British Wheelchair National League.

Rockets also have Junior training sessions and adult ‘Have a Go’ sessions.

Rockets Premier Division Team

The Rockets Premier Wheelchair Basketball Team competes at the highest level in the country, showcasing incredible talent, skill, and determination. The squad features a blend of current and former Great Britain representatives, bringing international experience and elite performance to every game. With a strong commitment to excellence both on and off the court, the team consistently challenges for top honours while inspiring fans and the wider community.
The Rockets Premier team is not only a force in the league but also a shining example of the power of sport to break barriers and achieve greatness.

Rockets 3rd Division Team

The Rockets are proud to have a second team competing in Division 3 of the National League. This team offers an excellent platform for players looking to develop their skills in a competitive environment and take their game to the next level. Whether you’re an aspiring athlete or an experienced player seeking a new challenge, the Rockets second team provides the perfect opportunity to grow within a supportive and ambitious club.

Junior Training Sessions

At Reading Rockets Wheelchair Basketball Club, we’re passionate about nurturing the next generation of athletes. Our Junior Sessions are specially designed for young players aged 8 to 17 who want to learn, play, and grow in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Our junior sessions focus on:

  • Skill Development: Learn the basics of wheelchair basketball including ball handling, passing, shooting, and teamwork.
  • Confidence Building: We help young athletes develop not just physically, but mentally—fostering confidence, resilience, and self-belief.
  • Inclusive Play: Whether you have a disability or not, all young people are welcome. We provide sports wheelchairs and coaching tailored to each player’s needs and abilities.

Adult 'Have-a-Go' Sessions

Our Adult Have-a-Go Sessions at Reading Rockets Wheelchair Basketball Club are the perfect opportunity for adults of all abilities to get active, learn a new sport, and have fun in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Whether you’re living with a disability, recovering from an injury, or simply curious to try something new, these sessions are open to everyone aged 18 and over—no prior experience needed!

What to Expect:

  • Friendly, no-pressure sessions led by experienced coaches
  • Learn the basics of wheelchair basketball—pushing, passing, shooting, and teamwork
  • Use of sports wheelchairs provided
  • Meet new people, keep fit, and enjoy a fun and energetic sport
