Coach Samit Nuruzade will return as head coach of the Reading Rockets for the 2023-24 NBL season.
After a successful season last year that saw the Rockets take the eventual champions, Hemel Storm, to the final shot of the playoff semi finals, Coach Nuruzade will look to try and take the team one step further.

After a successful stint with the Rockets between 2010 and 2013, Coach Samit returned to the Rockets last season and led the team to a 17-9 regular season record, finishing the season in 4th place.
On the return of Coach Nuruzade, Rockets Chairman Gary Johnson said: “It was great having Samit return to us last year having been away in his home country of Azerbaijan for a number years, where he was heavily involved in the development of their national basketball programme. So it’s even better to know he’s able to commit to the Rockets for a further year and hopefully beyond as his family have now joined him in Reading”

“Samit has been the most successful head coach when you look at the winning percentages and as he’s been involved in the recruitment of his players for the new season, both he and I expect much as he blends returning and new players.
“Samit has a lot of time for the players and supporters alike. He is very much appreciated here and I wish him a most successful season both on and off the court as he settles his family into life in Reading.”
